Not only do they include the timeline of gaming consoles and landmark games, they include important changing technological advances, including The invention of the CRT television, growth of arcades, and the trend of games moving online.

Additionally, the graphic includes some interesting data surrounding the gaming industry I hadn’t known before. For instance, did you know that in 2009 over one-quarter of gamers were over the age of 50? I didn’t. Although that shouldn’t be that surprising considering that was the first generation to really grow up with games.
To help magnify the impact gaming has had on our culture consider that the popular online game ‘World of Warcraft” had over 10 million active users … 10 years ago.
Even more impressive is the mobile mega-hit game ‘Angry Birds’, which has been downloaded an incredible 1 Billion times, including over 10 million in just the first 3 days after release.
